The 2 and half -6 years space

In the 2 and half-6 year old space, there are two Montessori teachers with AMI diplomas to support the 25 students (maximum) aged 2 and half to 6 years old. The atmosphere is fully bilingual as Laetitia makes the presentations of Montessori material in French and Maria in English.

Laetitia Olivier: French-speaking educator 3-6 years old AMI

My name is Laetitia Olivier, I was a school teacher for 5 years in National Education. I worked with children from junior section to fifth grade and did two years of school leadership. Since the beginning of my career, I have been practicing non-violent communication and have been interested in alternative pedagogies such as Montessori and Freinet. Dissatisfied with the classical system, I trained in Montessori pedagogy at the Institut Supérieur Maria Montessori in Paris to become a Montessori AMI Educator 3-6 years. After a year and a half in a  Montessori crèche, I decided to take over the Montessori school in Pau in 2020 to teach this pedagogy which is so close to my heart!

Maria SEROURIAN: english-speaking educator 3-6 years old AMI

Coming from California, Maria is a true globetrotter. She has taught many years in Japan, South Korea, Russia, and France as an English teacher which has taught her that the best way to teach a foreign language is to emerge the children in a new cultural and linguistic environment. Through her teaching experience, she quickly understood that the main goal of education should be to nurture the child’s love for learning and help him or her cultivate self-reliance and self confidence. This was the reason Maria chose to complete the AMI training to become a qualified Montessori teacher. The Montessori method which measures a child’s success not only through math and writing skills, but also through their level of independence and self-fulfilment really resonates with her teaching philosophy.

(*) AMI: Association Montessori Internationale. Association created by Maria Montessori and which today aims to transmit and publicize the Montessori work.
